They run the business. You hold the keys.

FirstGrand takes your teen from idea to a real, launched business, with $1,000 as the finish line. Here is exactly what it asks of you, and exactly what you can see.

The work

What your teen will do

They answer a questionnaire about their interests, gear and honest hours. The AI research engine then checks real listings, prices and local posts and comes back with five business ideas that fit them, each with sources you can open. Your teen picks one and works through the steps: shape the offer, make one sample, prove the numbers work, get three real customer commitments before building any stock, set up the legal side with you, and make the first sale. After that, the app tracks their money to the grand.

They make every business decision. The app never decides for them, and neither does the AI.

Your part

What you approve

  • You go first. Under 18, your teen cannot even fill in their form until you have created the account and signed the consents. Nothing about them is collected before that.
  • You approve their login. They get their own; you keep yours.
  • You hold the money side. The account, the payment and any subscription sit with you.
  • You tick off the legal checklist before they launch: the ABN question, product labelling, an insurance quote. The app explains each item in plain words. (An ABN is a number the tax office gives a business.)
  • If the safety system ever pauses the AI chats, only you can switch them back on.
Visibility

What you can see

  • Every brainstorm session your teen has with the AI is emailed to you in full when it ends, with the decisions summarised at the top so you get the gist in ten seconds.
  • The same transcripts stay readable in your Guardian corner in the app, along with the consents you signed and any safety notices.
  • The business brief, the numbers and the sales log are all visible from your account at any time.
Safety

The safety model, in plain words

The app blocks unsafe business categories in code, not just by asking the AI nicely. Weapons, gambling, drugs, vaping and alcohol, adult content, dangerous physical work, pyramid schemes and crypto speculation, and anything that needs an adult licence are off the table, checked on every message.

If your teen pushes at those lines three times, the AI chats pause on their own. You get an email that names the topic; it never quotes your teen, because a heads-up should not read like surveillance. Often it is curiosity or joke-testing rather than anything serious. When you have talked it through, you tick a box in Guardian corner and the chats switch back on. That pause is the kill switch, and you are the only one holding it.

Money

What it costs

The plan is a one-off $27 at the founding price (regular $37). That covers the research run, the five idea cards and every step to the first sale.

Grow it is $9 a month and only starts after the first sale. Cancel anytime; everything they built stays readable.

$1,000 is a goal, not a promise. Most of the work is your teen's, and no one can promise what customers will do.

Ready when you are.

Setup takes about five minutes: create the account, sign the consents, approve your teen's login. Then the work is theirs.
